Kids Are Scientists Too (KAST) - Walter Johnson High School Chapter

Mission

We are an chapter of the larger KAST organization at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland. We are committed to encouraging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) interest in young elementary students of all backgrounds and socioeconomic levels.

Over 300 elementary school students impacted

Over 40 high school students impacted

Since the 2021-2022 school year, we have worked closely with Ashburton Elementary School in Bethesda, MD. During the 2022-2023 school year, we expanded to include Garret Park Elementary School in Kensington, MD. We hope to continue expanding to other elementary schools to give these opportunities to as many students as possible.

FOX5 Morning Show Feature

KAST-WJ was featured on FOX5's Morning Show on October 24 for the work we have done at Ashburton. While there, we were generously presented with a check which we hope to use to expand our activities to more elementary schools as well as share it with other high schools hoping to start their own branch!
